S & C Foods Inc. is a family-owned grocery company serving communities throughout Middle Tennessee. Since 1989, we have focused on providing quality products, competitive prices, friendly service, and the personal attention customers expect from a neighborhood grocery store.
 

Today, S & C Foods operates five Cash Saver and H.G. Hill Food Stores in Portland, Hendersonville, Ashland City, Springfield, and Pleasant View, employing more than 200 local team members.
 

Our Family’s Grocery Story

Owner Cherri Means grew up in the grocery business. Her father, Cliff Marshall Sr., worked for Malone & Hyde before purchasing his first grocery store and founding Marshall Foods in 1979. Cherri joined the family business that same year and continued working there after earning her degree in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University in 1981.
 

In 1989, Cherri founded S & C Foods and purchased her first store, a Piggly Wiggly in Portland, Tennessee. That original location remains part of the company today as Portland Cash Saver.
 

Over the years, S & C Foods has owned and operated as many as 15 grocery stores and employed more than 600 people across Middle Tennessee.
 

Today, Cherri operates the business alongside her son, Shane Means. Together, they combine decades of grocery experience with continued investments in their stores, employees, technology, customer rewards, digital savings, and online shopping.
 

Our Commitment

Our Cash Saver stores operate under a simple cost-plus pricing model designed to provide customers with straightforward value. Products are priced at cost, with 10% added at checkout, helping families save on groceries, fresh foods, and household essentials.
 

Many of our meats are still cut and ground fresh in-store each day, continuing the hands-on quality and personal service that have always been important to our family.
 

Because we are locally owned and operated, we can make decisions based on the needs of our customers, employees, and communities. We are proud of where we started, grateful for the people who have supported us, and committed to serving Middle Tennessee for generations to come.
